Volume profile — Trading Glossary

A histogram of how much volume traded at each price over a period, drawn sideways on the chart — where business was done, rather than when.

Wide rows are prices the market accepted and spent time at; thin rows are prices it moved through quickly. On CFDs such as US30 the volume is tick volume — how often price changed — which tracks real activity but is only an approximation of exchange volume.
